CRIME IN THE KLANG VALLEY

It is now at shocking levels!!!

I was at a party last week and a friend was telling us his unfortunate encounter. He was car-jacked at 2am while walking to his car after some late night supper in Klang.

The story then gets worse.

They bashed him on the head and threw him in his car and kept hitting him while they drove off. They took his IC and drove to that address. As it was his old address, they demanded to know where he lived. (Again, by bashing him heavily.) Once they identified his home, they drove him to an isolated “pondok/shed” and tied him up there and went into “breaking and entering” mode.

The remaining part of this ordeal comes from his brother, who was also at the party, who was in bed at home that fateful day.

They broke in and immediately established that any resistant will be trouble for the brother which they already had locked up in a shed somewhere. They also had “parangs/large knifes” and used this to ensure that everyone followed their plan. It was a miracle that the entire family escaped with only minor injuries but they lost 2 cars and anything of value in the house.

Now….why is crime getting to these levels in our own backyard????

1. The official police response: “Biasa/normal” occurrence!! Can you imagine????

2. The official police response: The police force is “demoralized” to do anything as the task of getting rid of criminals/gangsters in Klang was a mammoth one.

3. The gangsters are protected by corrupt politicians and a corrupt police force.

4. The corrupt judiciary or lets just say the ability to manipulate the judiciary to ensure these criminals/gangsters can get away from being prosecuted.

5 . The police force is NOT “demoralized” to conduct road block and speed traps at silly locations and for ridiculous reasons.

6. The police force is NOT “demoralized” to question bloggers for hours on end or to arrest them.

7. The media is terrified to report the truth as follows:
- Indian politician control the Indian gangsters/criminals.
- As long as the victims are also Indians, the police can’t be bothered.
- The Malaysian police force is corrupt at even the highest levels.

Where is all this heading????

Many of my buddies have left the country already. Why?

As they said, “It's better to be alive in some racist country rather than dead in this one!!!”

But like so many other TRUE DIE HARD MALAYSIANS, I am NOT gonna let the country I love go down like this.

We need to stand up and fight this!!

Nanda: you'd be surprised at how all this works from all levels and at every juncture.

As Indians, we're a screwed by our own lot and somehow perhaps people are waiting for us to annihilate each other out! ...

But that's one scary story ... and to think I drive alone at all odd hours thanks to my freaking job PJ to Seremban daily.

So far, so good - but for how long?

Another friend had a similar story. Guess where it happened - Jalan Telawi in Bangsar.

They beat the crap out of him but he refused to budge when asked to go to ATM.

So all he lost was a car . . .

You are rite bout this malaise. But try telling that to the Bn-supporting fooks who will tell you that Malaysia-under-BN is heaven n earth.

How dare we complain etc etc . . .

Bro...
a similar thing happened recently to a relative of mind...
My uncle was mugged in his own home...
The culprits were indians in their early 20's workin for a bigger gang
A police report was made...
same response was given...
Using a different connection found out that like in the movies there were ppl in the force who were protecting this young buggers...
You see these youngters then pass all the lot to the bigger chain and so on...so some ppl get their cut

So since this was a dead end...what they did was...

use a rival gang...which had a even bigger connection... spread fear among them...
and the whole thing was settled....
Just like in the tamil movies its who you know bro...
Bro any one remembers DSP Paramasivam...the person back in 2004 who spread fear among them thugs in Klang...guess what
he's been transferred to Sabah to become the head of General Operations Police ..(Police Hutan)...and you know y ?...
For being to dedicated to his job ans stepping on the wrong toe...

Anba: Now I'm confused.....on one side we have indians being marginalised....on the other side....indians who are above the law????
So which indians are we trying to help?????
The poor and uneducated become thugs.....very powerful
The rich and connected...very powerful
What's left is us in the middle la.....#@$!@#$!!!!!

Wrote a "watered down" version for the Sun:

CRIME IN THE KLANG VALLEY

Over the Hari Raya holidays, I attended a number of open houses in the Klang valley and crime and safety seems to have superseded politics as the main topic of conversation.

Personal experiences of friends being victims of recent break-ins, car-jackings and various other crimes were in large numbers and therefore seem to be shockingly rampant in the Klang valley.

There were, of course, many different reasons for this and they were discussed in great lengths but the core reason that everyone agreed on was the same.

The ineffectiveness of our police force to combat and prevent crime and ensure the safety of the public.

All of my friends had the same experience while making the police reports, only to be told by the police that this sort of thing is normal nowadays because the police forces are understaffed and demoralized.

As per reports by the media, the police force does not seem to be “demoralized” when it comes to questioning bloggers for hours on end about trivial issues on their web postings.

And also as per reports in the media, the police force seems to have ample staff for election duties, road block duties, etc.

Being a victim of a break-in myself, the whole safety situation in the country is getting to unbearable levels.

Where is the increase in patrols and patrol cars?
Where are dedicated police officers skilled to fight crime?
Where is the judiciary system that will have criminals afraid to commit crime?

Many of my buddies have even left the country or are planning to relocate to another country not because of political differences but concerns for the safety of their family and loved ones.

I love my country and don’t want to leave and neither do my family.

Please, my dear police force, don’t make me.

Stand up to these criminals and fight this disease of crime and corruption before it consumes us all!!

Nanda, seems like your story has finally caught up with "The Star" today...

http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2008/10/8/central/2152667&sec=central

Just hope with all the complaints going on, someone up there will do something about it.

Well, IMHO, I still doubt if the crime rate will go down regardless if the no. of police is increased. It all boils down to attitude of the public. I think Malaysians are so disillusion with the social-political environment around them, many has become apathetic with their surroundings. The sense of "neighbour-liness" is simply not there most of the time. Without this sense of connection among neigbours & fellow citizens, naturally, crime thrive.

if we can be brave enough like these women..then we wont have the time to blame or wait for the police for help.

what i mean is bad people preys on helpless victims. They carried with them parangs and all sort of weapon..but without it..they are just helpless as well.
bad people preys on victims who begs them for mercy..i dont care whether they are indian, malays, chinese, sikh or what..i only know bad people. Most common, intellegent people are the culprit.

I know how it feel to be a victim. Scared beyond believed. Thinking "is this how it should end?"

now we are living in a world with moto "killed or be killed", "Money is the motif in life","Sex sells". No more respect.

Daniel: Yup..heard the "Rukun tetangga" thing does help in certain areas. But you're right, they neighbours have to be friends first!!

Reen: Read the story but many times, the dead are usually the victims. "Prevention is better than cure", right?
It may be true that there are bad people from every colour and creed but sadly, the indian community in Malaysia is the one getting the least help. (Becos their own "indian" leaders are thugs!!)
Maybe if they had proper education and it was followed with good jobs and salary, things would be better??

Yeah I've heard about the Rukun Tetangga thingy but never understood how it works or operate. In Melbourne, there'd be a sign at the gate of each house says "Neigbourhood watch". The concept works the similar to the Rukun Tetangga thingy, I supposed. The only difference is over there, people have no problem helping each other out because everyone has equal rights under the Constitution & Australian Law. Can we say the same here for every Citizen of Malaysia? As long as there's a "us vs them" mentality (i.e. different race has different class, you know what I mean), the spirit of connection between neighbours & fellow citizens will never be truely realised.
