A truly Malaysian word
What would you consider a truly Malaysian word??
Nothing vulgar but just a plain English word that when used in a Malaysian context means something else.

My truly Malaysian word is......
SIMPLY
I've elaborated the use of the word in my Conversation between my wife (Irish) and me:
Nanda: My buddy is coming over in a few minutes.
Mary: Why?
Nanda: SIMPLY
Mary: Huh??? Simply what?
Nanda: Simply la..

hahaha Nanda, that must be an extension from how we say it in Malay 'saje' or Tamil 'chumma' and since both mean simply we use it in English context as well ...
I bet the wish is still trying to figure out we strange asians!
Tamil/Malaysian words:
1. Udannnn (Udang)
2. Sotonge (Sotong)
3. Senangge (Senang)....the actual correct tamil word is "Sulabam".
Tamil word that needs to be included into Bahasa Malaysi due to unavailability of exact translations:
1. Avamanam - Means something like shameful...for example,
" Dia telah mengavamanamkan saya" or "Keavamanaman yang dialami sungguh menyakitkan hati."

The correct Tamil word for Udannnn is Raal :)
Man Nanda never heard that line before but ehehhe it so fits ... but errrr isn't the Malay language anyhows a rojak of stolen words and ejaan untuk memelayukan anyways hahahahahah nothing like the richness of the Tamil language.

A Chinese word (Not swear words la...haiyo!!) that must be included soon in the Bahasa Malaysia dictionary has to be:
1.Ta Pau - To pack...it is surely used more frequantly as compared to "takeaway"!!!!

Are you multi-lingual with Maya? I am English+Tamil+Malay+bits of Chinese/Malayalam/Italian and other mish mash language conversations with my girls - they are bi-lingual now working on the Tamil :) ... kids are sharper!
Maya is in Ireland now so I guess she must be learning some "Irish English" now......that just English with the intoxicated slurring...hahahahaha!!!

Me once had encounter with irish english b4...
one of My neighbours son married am irish lady..so they had came down for the holidays...
me neighbours didnt have any phone installed at their residence so they used to rely on our phone...
so once they had a call from ireland and the irish lady came to answer the phone... me was takin me lunch that time ... then me heard me auntie callin me so me went to investigate...
the irish lady was sayin somethin to me auntie and she couldnt understand a word.. so i went to her aid...
so the irish lady spoke to me...
and honestly i have never heard english words spoken so fast n furious b4...
all i could hear was this...
doo fooon lien wooos kooot uffff
said very very fast
and i was like...
mmmm...sorry i dont understand..
and she repeated the same thing..
and it took me some time to realize what she was sayin...

Hate to admit it, but for the longest time, me thought "paining" was actually a word. Surprisingly i have never used it in writing, but when i speak... "my stomach paining-lah." hahahahahaaa
then some one pointed out there is no such word, and i could not believe it. i actually looked in the dictionary and was surprised.
i believe the culprit is "let's go Thani-ing-lah macha".. so used to adding "ing" to all words....
Anba - "doo fooon lien wooos kooot uffff" so funny....I understood it the moment I read it....must be the influence of my Irish wife!!! hehehehe!!!
AD - "Gostan" is actually "Go Astern" and Yes, astern is the movement to go backwards.
Achilles - Hehehe!! Me used to use the leg "paining" too!! Got "Americanize" in the States...It's my leg "Hurts" now!! hehehe!!
Another killer Malaysian thing is the, "Can you pls "ON" the light, fan, TV, radio, etc"
I said to Mary once, "On the TV" and she walked to the TV and came back and said, " There's nothing on the TV."
I then had to say, " Haiyo!!!..Switch it on la.....!!!"
Nanda: Another classic which i got screwed for in US - i said "The line is engaged"... and the response i got from Americans... to what? hahahahaha
In US, the line is busy... not engaged. But i think this is more a British thing than a Malaysian thing.
